Please bring copies of all previous mammogram reports, all previous biopsy results, and records of any previous breast care.
Please bring your actual mammograms with you. A report is helpful, but it is not sufficient by itself. We need to see and review the actual images. This usually means a computer disc with the images of your mammogram. If you had film mammograms, however, you will need to bring the actual films. If you have questions, please speak to the office staff before the day of your appointment.
PLANNING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Some forms you can fill out before you come to the office [click link to office forms in the Steps You Can Take section]. Other forms need to be completed and signed in the office at the time of your visit.
It is always useful to think about the goals of your visit before you arrive.
Please feel comfortable to bring a list of questions with you.
If you would like to ask about recent news you have seen or studies you have heard about, please bring the article or material to your appointment with you.
In general, we diagnose and treat women for one of three reasons:
1. Women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. If you have been diagnosed with breast cancer, please consider these questions.
2. Women who have a specific area of concern or symptom including a breast lump, abnormal mammogram, pain, discharge or other concern. If you are scheduling your appointment for these reasons, please consider these questions.
3. Women who are concerned that they are at high risk for breast cancer or want to minimize their risk of breast cancer. If you are scheduling your appointment for these reasons, please consider these questions.
The office has an answering service for after hours and weekend emergencies. The telephone number is the same as the office number, 415.923.3925.
If you have a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room. It is important that you contact your physician within 24 hours of receiving emergency care. The answering service is designed to help patients with URGENT medical illnesses. General advice should be given during regular office visits.
